APA Practice Leadership Conference in Washington D.C The Practice Leadership Conference (PLC) is an invitation-only event that brings together psychologists from the State, Provincial, and Territorial Psychological Associations (SPTAs) across the U.S. and Canada, along with APA governance and a few divisions. PLC is an opportunity for SPTA leaders to network and converse about professional issues, association management challenges, and trends occurring at the state and federal level. Each year, NPA leadership attend this 4-day conference for several days of training through large and small group sessions, workshop and networking opportunities to learn more about the issues facing psychology and psychologists, and to network with colleagues, invited speakers and government representatives. On the final day, our Nevada delegation heads to Capitol Hill to meet with Nevada’s congressional and state representatives to advocate for our profession person-to-person. 2022 Practice Leadership Conference, March 3rd & 4th and March 27th & 28th The 2022 national advocacy priorities included urging co-sponsorship of The Parity Implementation Assistance Act (H.R. 3753/S. 1962), authorizing the Department of Labor to assess penalties for violation of parity law, supporting the reauthorization of the Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) Program and the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP), and increasing Fiscal year (FY22) Appropriations for critical psychology workforce training programs. On Tuesday, March 28th, NPA held scheduled meetings with the offices of Senator Rosen (D-NV), Senator Cortez-Masto (D-NV), Congressman Amodei (R-NV-02), Congressman Horsford (D-NV-04), Congresswoman Titus (D-NV-01) and Congresswoman Lee (D-NV-03).
