Dr. Joe Scroppo will discuss the process of shutting down a psychological practice and choosing to end one’s professional career. He will address the ethical, regulatory, business, and practical issues of effectively closing a practice. Dr. Scroppo will also discuss a method of preparing for sudden and unforeseen interruptions in professional practice.

About the Presenter:

Joe Scroppo, PhD, JD, is a forensic psychologist and attorney. He maintains private practices in law as well as clinical and forensic psychology, and has been a Risk Management Consultant for The Trust since 2012. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Hofstra University School of Medicine and is a Fellow of APA Division 42. Dr. Scroppo is an expert in domestic battering and its effects, various mental state defenses to homicide charges, the civil commitment of sex offenders, and forensic assessment in child custody and maltreatment matters. Dr. Scroppo has a keen interest in risk management and ethics and has presented, taught, and published in that area.
