About the Workshop:

The objective of this course is to educate Nevada Psychologists on how to navigate the registration and supervision requirements of Psychological Trainees, Psychological Interns, and Psychological Assistants with the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.  The aim of this continuing education is to educate supervisors and trainees on the ways to ensure a seamless and compliant process registering with the board.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this pre-recorded course, participants will be able to:
1) Identify the steps needed to register psychological trainees, interns, and assistants with the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners (NBOPE), including timeline for completion depending on students diverse educational and training backgrounds.
2) Identify training and experience in supervision needed to supervise at each level of registration.
3) Identify educational and training factors to be considered when completing supervision contracts to meet criteria by the board office.  

About the Presenters:

Whitney Owens, Psy.D. is the President of the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.  She has served on the NBOPE since 2016 and has served on the Application Tracking, Equivalency, and Mobility (A-TEAM) subcommittee since 2017.  Dr. Owens is a licensed psychologist and the co-owner of The Evidence Based Practice of Nevada, a behavioral healthcare clinic located in Henderson, Nevada. 

Since moving to Las Vegas in 2008, Dr. Owens has served in various leadership roles, including serving as the president of the Nevada Psychological Association from 2013-2014.  She received the “Outstanding Leadership Award” from NPA in 2014 for her work on the Executive Board. Dr. Owens' CV

Lisa Scurry is the Executive Director of the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.  She took the position in April of 2020 after 28 years with local government in Northern Nevada where she served for more than 10 years as a ParaLegal and Policy Coordinator. Lisa Scurry's Resume

Approved by Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners. Nevada Psychological Association (NPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. NPA maintains responsibility for the program and its content. NPA will issue certificates of completion. APA CE rules require that we only issue credits to those who attend the entire workshop. Those logging into the webinar more than 15 minutes late or logging off before the entire workshop is completed will not receive CE credits (i.e. partial credit will not be given).
